His first moment to forget arrived in the fifth minute, as he lost his footing and allowed Brennan Johnson to scamper down the wing and cross for Dominic Solanke to break the deadlock. Six minutes later and Cucurella slipped again during the build-up to Dejan Kulusevski’s second for the hosts.
WHAT THE FANS ARE SAYING
Rival fans have taken great delight in trolling Cucurella, who endured similar issues to those which ex-Liverpool captain Gerrard suffered during a meeting with Chelsea in 2014. @CORF_FPL said on social media: “Cucurella with a cracking Steven Gerrard impersonation there..” @mejar412 went on to say: “Cucurella should definitely do a third slip. We want a hat-trick.” On a similar theme, @jacobs_ladder71 added: “I think Marc Cucurella would have been better off with a pair of Crocs.” Others to save the Spaniard include @Murdo1991 and @Ivan_510, who said the clumsy full-back was “having a complete mare” and putting in a “hall of shame performance”.

Cucurella changed his boots after seeing Chelsea breached for a second time, but Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher – on commentary duty for – was baffled as to why the mishaps were allowed to happen in the first place. He said: "Cucurella's coming to the bench, don't blame anyone else – it's your own fault son! Absolute schoolboy stuff. Embarrassing. He slips again. Look at him shrugging his shoulders. Did he not do a warm-up?"
