Reynolds and McElhenney have, however, made no secret of the fact that financial assistance would be required at some stage as Wrexham take aim at the Premier League promised land. It was revealed in late October that the Allyn family – with a net worth of €2 billion (£1.6bn) – had acquired a minority stake in the club and would be helping to fund rejuvenation projects in North Wales.

Asked if he and McElhenney are planning to rein in their involvement after welcoming an injection of cash into the Wrexham coffers, Reynolds told : “No, we will remain majority owners. The team is growing faster than anyone expected. There are needs that require a certain type of skill and people who have some experience in growing things.

“We chose the Allyn family because they have similar values that make Wrexham. They’ve been revitalizing towns and communities for many years in upstate New York, and that’s why bringing them on didn’t cause a big stir.”

WHAT NEXT FOR WREXHAM?

Reynolds was in attendance for Wrexham’s latest League One fixture, as he was joined in the stands at SToK Racecourse by Channing Tatum and Billie Joe Armstrong. Phil Parkinson’s side have slipped to third in the table, but remain very much in the automatic promotion hunt.
